Auckland

Today is August 25th, 2013 and 40 years ago today I married the love of my life, Kaye.
We slept in this morning after getting in around midnight last night, Kaye can finally stop pestering me for her present, a solid gold bracelet, this girl hates secrets. She bought me a lovely Seiko gold and stainless steel watch.
Breakfast and off to explore, the sky was overcast and occasional showers.
We caught the ferry across to Devonport, one of Auckland's oldest suburbs, a picturesque Victorian infused village which is a window into Auckland's colonial past.
Back to Auckland, lunch on the wharf and then rest time for my girl before we go out tonight.

I had a reservation for dinner at the Sky Tower Orbit Restaurant for 6.30pm, a short trip by cab in the rain got us there well in time to go to the observation deck first at 220m high. From there down one floor to the restaurant for dinner. The meal and service was absolutely excellent and the view stunning. The restaurant rotates one revolution per hour and our dinner was two revolutions, we have never taken that long to relax and eat. A great night with my darling.

The Sky Tower is an observation and telecommunications tower located on the corner of Victoria and Federal Streets in the Auckland CBD, Auckland City, New Zealand. It is 328 metres (1,076 ft) tall, as measured from ground level to the top of the mast, making it the tallest free-standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere. Due to its shape and height, especially when compared to the next tallest structures, it has become an iconic structure in Auckland's skyline.
If you want to read more about the structure, its wind and earthquake resistance read here:

The following pictures were taken from Sky Tower.

We were served complimentary champagne on arrival.

A great day.
Tomorrow we pick up the car and head off to areas unknown.
